Encyclopedia of Religious Revivals in America
Yesterday, I received in the mail a new two-volume Encyclopedia of Religious Revivals in America, edited by my friend Michael McClymond over at St. Louis University. This morning I've enjoyed wandering through the first volume, which contains hundreds of articles (including three by yours truly) on a wide-range of American religious figures, all written from the aspect of their contribution to revivalism in America. The second volume is a larger, primary document source book that has a number of hard-to-find texts, especially from Pentecostal and neo-Charismatic sources. While non-professionals will experience sticker shock, this set certainly belongs in nearly every academic library that has a religious studies program as well as every theological seminary.
